HSUD Billing
Documentation
Check your rates using the tool provided and document (or print) your findings. If you find that your rates are close to the HSUD rates but your bill is still above what you consider acceptable, check your meter readings (see below). There could be a mistake there. It can happen. Again, document your findings.

Meter Reading
Need help reading your meters?
If your meter readings and rates are within reason, then the issue stems from bill timing. Make sure that your payments are shown on your statements. This is where your documentation really pays off.
Bill Comparison
Compare your bills. If you see a sudden spike in usage, investigate. For example, if there is sudden increase in water usage,
check and make sure that someone didn't leave an outdoor faucet on (been there). Seasonal changes effects usage as well (see example below).
Notice how gas usage goes up and electrical drops during the cold months? That's due gas heating and no air conditioning.
If you consider all the possibilities and have the documentation that support your findings, then finding the
solution should be easier and less stressful for all concerned.
Still Stumped?
Bills are constantly too high? Don't worry there is help available.
With the new In-Home Energy Evaluation Program, you can reduce your power usage and receive a cash incentive or financing assistance for installing home energy improvements.
The recommended energy-related home improvements you make are eligible for reimbursement of 50 percent of the installation cost, with an upper
limit of $500, or for convenient financing.

Billing Date: What It Means and Why It Matters in Finance
The billing date refers to the specific day of the month when a customer receives their statement for charges incurred on their account. This date is crucial for calculating finance charges, minimum payments due, and the overall balance. Billing dates can differ from one account to another and typically follow a thirty-day cycle. - Source: USLegal
